Job Overview:

Responsible for the installation, complex repair, de-installation, turn-in, and accountability of all Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems (TESS) at the Joint Multinational Training Center.

Description:

*Performs and directs the installation of simulation equipment on the unit's aircraft at U.S. Army aviation unit's home station and instructs aircraft crews on the interfaces, capabilities and technical limitations of the systems.

*Provides TESS and TASS technical information including aviation checklists, schedule milestones and military unit aircrew responsibilities.

*Applies extensive knowledge of U.S. Army aviation weapon platforms and combat simulation hardware to provide battlefield support to training units and advise crews on the operation, effectiveness, limitations and reliability of the systems.

*Performs simulation equipment weapons alignments (bore-sighting) with units and crews.

*Provides additional instruction and troubleshooting 24-hrs a day throughout combat training exercises at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) and other field locations.

*Technical adviser to the JMRC Commander, Joint Maneuver Training Center (JMTC) Commander, and user (soldiers) unit commanders on all matters pertaining to aviation weapons systems simulation resources.

Equipment Used:

*Serves as a technical expert in all matters pertaining to the AH-64E, UH-60M, H & L, CH-47F, TESS B, TASS, Training Aircraft Survivability Stimulation Suite and Smart On-Board Data Interface Module (SMODIM) sustainment operations.

*Experience operating forklifts and other machinery.

Working Environment:

*Good physical condition and capable of working in inclement weather in an extremely labor-intensive environment including working long hours (10+ hours) on a 7-day a week schedule when training requires.

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience OR associate's degree and 7 years of related experience, OR 11 years of related experience.

Former U.S. Army officer, noncommissioned officer or enlisted soldier.

Skills:
  • Knowledgeable of U.S. Army rotary wing aircraft, combat vehicles, Ground-to-Air/Air-to-Ground
  • and hand-held weapons systems, to include armament circuitry, weapons sighting systems and
  • weapons control systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Army maintenance and logistics systems.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the use of U.S. military Command, Control, and
  • Communications C4I systems.
  • Experienced in driving military vehicles in a field environment, both day and night. Able to obtain a
  • S. Army tactical vehicle operating license with night vision goggle certification.
