Job Title: Construction Safety Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to join our team at our EdgeCore Campus site in Mesa, AZ. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health and safety management are maintained across our construction projects. This is an onsite position with a tentative start date of April 8, 2025, and an end date of April 7, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the education and identification of High-Risk Activities (HRA) to the Lease Provider and construction contractor.
- Monitor Collaborative Planning conducted by the Lease Provider and/or construction contractor as it relates to identified High-Risk Activities.
- Monitor Key Safety Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to health and safety.
- Assess health and safety implications of situational and schedule changes during the project and highlight potential issues.
- Identify and monitor project health and safety performance data.
- Stop work and inform appropriate supervision when immediately dangerous to life and health activities are observed.
- Participate actively in health and safety related meetings, calls, briefings, surveys, reviews, and audits.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of site health and safety planning, including HRA safety planning and implementation.
- Conduct high-level reviews of Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), safe plans of action, and lifting plans.
- Review accidents, incidents, and near-miss reports, and monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
- Assess resources provided by contractors to implement safety management programs.
- Encourage and promote health and safety initiatives and contractor participation in recognition schemes.
- Report routinely to company site representative and EHS representative on activities, initiatives, challenges, and control measures.
- Conduct a minimum of three daily observations and one weekly site inspection report.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior role with relevant experience in construction health and safety management.
- Proven experience in construction safety management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Previous experience in data center construction and/or operations.
- Extensive experience in contractor communications and liaising with design teams and other project professionals.
- Fully IT literate (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, cloud-based applications).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass specific Lease Provider's security requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- NFPA 70E Training.
- Safety certification such as CSP or CHST.
- Bi-lingual in English and the primary language of the country assigned to.
- Formal education in construction safety, general industry safety, health safety management, or a similar discipline.
- Membership in a recognized health and safety organization (e.g., IOSH) preferably at chartered status or recognized equivalent.
Work Environment
This position is based on-site at the EdgeCore Campus in Mesa, AZ. The daily schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The contractor will need to provide their own personal cell phone for contact purposes and will be supplied with a laptop, PPE (vest, glasses, steel-toe boots, hard hat), and necessary office equipment (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset). The workspace is assigned onsite, and the role requires active participation and a visible presence on-site to ensure safety management processes are followed.
