Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled R&D Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will support the production line, perform engineering process and equipment evaluations, and ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge medical devices in a collaborative and innovative environment.


Responsibilities

  • Support the production line as needed by training operators on new equipment and processes.
  • Modify/install utilities to support equipment or fixture changes and installations.
  • Repair equipment/fixtures as requested by the equipment/fixture owners.
  • Work with support groups to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Document new processes and create associated Work Instructions (WI) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Perform equipment IQ/OQ and preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate calibration and preventative maintenance schedules to minimize impact on production flow.
  • Work with engineers on process development projects.
  • Execute test protocols, generate data, and document appropriately.
  • Maintain workplace safety and provide feedback to improve manufacturing tools and assembly instructions.
  • Maintain proper engineering documentation for all design, testing, and process development activities.
  • Update procedures and MPIs to reflect current processes.
  • Update lab notebook with test results, invention disclosures, etc.
  • Support other duties as assigned on an individual basis.

Essential Skills

  • 5-6 years of experience in the medical device field, ideally at a Sr. Level 3 technician.
  • Experience working with small components and micro work.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in cardiovascular balloons is a plus.
  • Clean room experience preferred.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a class 8 clean room.
  • Proficiency in protocol writing and data analysis.
  • Experience with medical devices, particularly cardiovascular and catheter devices.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Minitab.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a medical device manufacturing setting, recognized as a global leader in breakthrough cardiovascular and endovascular solutions. The team consists of 4 other technicians and 1 technical supervisor, with a total of 30 people in the R&D department. The role involves working in the engineering testing lab, at a desk, and occasionally in a machine shop and lab. Some overtime may be required, potentially on Saturdays. The position operates in a class 8 clean room and production floor, with standard hours from Monday to Friday, starting at 6 AM to 3 PM, with some flexibility but preferring a 7 AM latest start.
