Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Medical Support Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth patient check-in and check-out processes, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care. The Medical Support Specialist will assist with patient rooming, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, appointment scheduling, and chart management.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and conducting basic medical tests and procedures.
  • Set up instruments and equipment according to departmental guidelines and ensure exam/procedure rooms are cleaned and restocked to maintain infection control standards.
  • Greet patients, assist with check-in procedures, and gather necessary medical history and insurance information.
  • Prepare the clinic for daily operations by reviewing the facility, opening system applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents.
  • Register patients, update records, and verify insurance details accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries, assist with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests.
  • Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, and provide general patient information.
  • Complete end-of-day procedures, including preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of patient records, including electronic health records (EHR) and paper files.
  • Oversee medical supplies and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels and proper storage.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for medical equipment as needed.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; CPR certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Biology majors or Pre-RN candidates preferred.
