Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and driven Project Engineer to join our construction project team. The project involves the demolition of existing structures and subsequent construction of an 80,000 square foot education center, aimed at providing inmates with educational opportunities comparable to a community college setting. As the facility transitions to a level 2 prison, emphasizing skill development and rehabilitation, your role as a Project Engineer will be instrumental in shaping this transformative initiative.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Project Management team to ensure project objectives are met within budget and schedule constraints.
• Utilize Procore, RFI (Request for Information), and change order management systems efficiently to track project progress and communicate with stakeholders.
• Oversee onsite activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Facilitate coordination between subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel to resolve issues and mitigate risks promptly.
• Provide support in project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and construction drawings.
• Demonstrate strong drive, a strong work ethic, proactive problem-solving skills, and a commitment to achieving project goals.
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new challenges and responsibilities.

Essential Skills

• Experience with RFIs, change order, and submittals.
• Organization and timely execution on construction documents.
• Ability to commute to San Jose 5 days out of the week.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working through DSA.
• Exposure to working on the owner's rep (construction manager) side.
• Proficiency in Prolog.
• OSHA 10-hour certified.
• Understanding of MEP systems.

Work Environment

The role requires being in the office and onsite 5 days a week, with some flexibility for remote or hybrid work under certain circumstances. However, anyone joining at the project engineer level should expect to be mostly in the office.
