Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our team. This role involves traditional phlebotomy duties with additional responsibilities in processing, centrifuging, and splitting specimens. Exceptional customer service skills and proficiency in data entry using the LabCorp Touch system are essential. Training is provided in the second week of employment, focusing on our entering and processing procedures. The primary focus of this role is on blood draws, which constitute approximately 70% of the job.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Enter orders and perform data entry tasks using the LabCorp Touch system.
- Process and ship specimens, including centrifuging and splitting.
- Provide high-level customer service.
- Confirm patient information and maintain accurate medical records.
- Clean and restock work areas.
- Communicate with doctor offices as needed.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.
- Experience with centrifuge operations.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- Capability to handle medical records and specimen collection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- At least one year of active phlebotomy experience, with more experienced candidates preferred.
- Experience with geriatric and pediatric patients is beneficial.
- Certification in CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) and BLS (Basic Life Support) is highly preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position is based in a patient service center and requires coverage that can change daily within the hours of 6 AM to 6 PM. The role involves standing for approximately 50% of the time. You will work alongside another phlebotomist and must be open to floating between five locations: Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, Foothill Ranch, and Laguna Beach. Training lasts for two weeks and includes a 40-hour work week during the second week, with training locations in Wildomar, Tustin, and Los Angeles. Accommodations will be provided if necessary. This is a very busy site, with an expectation of around 120 blood draws daily.
