Vehicle Test Engineer


Job Description

The main function of this Test Engineer is to ensure Vehicle DC Fast Charging Interoperability with prototype vehicles and charging infrastructure to qualify the release and performance of Hardware and Software. The role involves managing release testing, developing test runs, and executing test runs.


Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot interoperability charging communication issues primarily on DC fast charging.
  • Collect and analyze PLC charging communication vehicle CAN data.
  • Understand charging services via OCPP API messages and how it relates to charging functionality.
  • Understand SAE and ISO standards to develop test cases for interoperability testing.
  • Update Test Vehicles with Hardware and/or Software and perform smoke tests to ensure successful updates.
  • Ensure Charging System components and software operation by monitoring logs and communications between ECUs.
  • Participate in charging interoperability testing symposiums, collaborating with industry across CPOs, EVSE Manufacturers, and OEMs.
  • Collect feedback and develop technical requirements for US-specific system/feature implementation.
  • Generate regular project reports.
  • Plan and manage development activities in support of project plans to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain high awareness of the EV charging infrastructure in the USA to align testing efforts with market developments.
  • Communicate proactively to management regarding project issues, delays, risks, potential solutions, and needed resources.
  • Work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in troubleshooting, software testing, and validation.
  • Familiarity with CAN/LAN, test procedures, and ECU.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a dynamic and collaborative environment with opportunities to travel both domestically and internationally. The position requires a high level of independence and the ability to meet deadlines. The work includes hands-on testing with vehicles and charging systems, as well as participation in industry symposiums and collaboration with various stakeholders.
