Job Title: Gas Technician


Job Description

Work on projects related to landfill gas collection and control systems. Monitor and maintain gas extraction systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to prevent the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere.


Responsibilities

  • Identify and locate gas leaks in pipelines and systems to ensure safety and system integrity.
  • Maintain and repair gas pipelines to prevent leaks and ensure efficient operation.
  • Conduct pressure tests on gas systems to check for leaks and ensure proper functioning.
  • Use gas analyzers to measure and monitor gas concentrations.
  • Repair and maintain gas valves to ensure they operate correctly.
  • Utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring and controlling gas systems.
  • Monitor and maintain landfill gas collection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in identifying and locating gas leaks.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing gas pipelines.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Ability to conduct pressure tests on gas systems.
  • Skills in using gas analyzers.
  • Proficiency in repairing and maintaining gas valves.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with environmental field testing.
  • Proficiency in using GEM 5000 and Envision Analyzer.
  • Data entry and reading software skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations.

Work Environment

Will be working outside 50-60% of the time. At the end of the day, data will be entered and uploaded to the system. The candidate will be part of a team of 8, working in teams of two when monitoring the systems. Dress code includes steel toe boots, jeans, and PPE provided by the client.
