Join our Venice Family Clinic and make a difference in the community as a Prevention Advocate for STD Testing. With guidance and supervision from the Outreach and Engagement Supervisor, the Prevention Advocate will conduct rapid and confirmatory testing onsite and in a mobile unit for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.

Join our Venice Family Clinic and make a difference in the community as a Prevention Advocate for STD Testing. With guidance and supervision from the Outreach and Engagement Supervisor, the Prevention Advocate will conduct rapid and confirmatory testing onsite and in a mobile unit for HIV, hepatitis C, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
- Utilizing motivational interviewing, to provide safe sex counseling to clients.
- Connecting clients to additional care when necessary, including ensuring that newly diagnosed HIV+ clients are linked to the medical care team. Following the harm reduction model, they will treat every person whom they interact with respect and dignity.
- Providing HIV/STD education and risk reduction interventions, condoms and general clinic information to clients.
- Coordinating and providing targeted community outreach and HIV testing and counseling; provide PrEP and PeP information and referrals.
- Ensuring linkages to care are made and followed through.
- Providing coverage for the harm reduction program, which includes providing clients with wound care, prevention education, referrals, and clean syringes at certified locations. Additionally, appropriate disposal of used syringes and ensuring all documentation meets the funding requirements.
Salary Range: $30.53 - $40.30 Hourly

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in social work from a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education and one year of experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, including Antibody testing, community resources, Hepatitis C and STD knowledge, harm reduction, and syringe exchange.
- Skill in database management and data entry, including the a bility to complete required program documentation.
- Public speaking skills and leadership ability.
- Skill in providing individualized HIV health education, HIV testing and c ounseling, overdose prevention, medical and substance abuse referrals, and abscess education.
- Ability to follow through on assignments and work independently.
- Ability to discuss sensitive matters in a non-judgmental manner and to respect confidentiality.
- Ability to work within a team and effectively with people of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- S kill in creating flyers and other program-promoting documents.
