Job Description

As a Chemist level 1, you will be responsible for assisting and carrying out chemical analysis and designed experimental activities related to environmental testing. Your focus will be in wet chemistry where you will be preparing, extracting, and analyzing samples. You will be responsible for following SOPs, extracting samples, analyzing and entering data. You will be exposed to all of our instrumentation including IC, GCMS, GCFID, and ICPMS. You may be asked to prepare samples for other departments.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs
• Perform multi-step procedures
• Acquire and interpret analytical data from various meters, spectrophotometer, and other wet chemistry instruments
• Summarize results, aid in writing technical reports and procedures, and present information to the technical team
• Work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
• Critically think and problem solve
• Reinforce safe work practices
• Receive initial and annual training; handle and dispose of hazardous wastes

Essential Skills

• Experience with LIMS
• Sample preparation
• Knowledge in Chemistry and Analytical chemistry
• Expertise in Wet chemistry
• Proficiency in pH testing
• Gas chromatography (GC) experience
• Strong data review skills
• Experience in digestion and EPA methods

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• ICPMS experience is a huge plus
• Lab experience is required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Relevant industrial experience
• Experience in food, water, or regulated industries
• Candidates from unregulated environments such as the cannabis industry are not suitable
