Sr. Protection Engineer (Remote)


Job Description

This person will be responsible for the completion of assigned projects and maintaining/improving client relationships. As a lead, this person will put together the Scope of Work (SOW), write the scope, handle the budget, and manage a team of engineers. The role involves managing priorities among the team and checking the work of four engineers. Additionally, this person will support protection relay settings for all projects involving substations, transmission lines, and distribution, as well as conduct electrical studies for utilities and commercial/industrial clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned projects and maintain/improve client relationships.
  • Put together Scope of Work (SOW), write the scope, handle the budget, and manage a team of engineers.
  • Manage priorities among the team and check the work of four engineers.
  • Support protection relay settings for all projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution.
  • Conduct electrical studies for utilities and commercial/industrial clients.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Five (5) or more years of industry experience performing studies in technical disciplines.
  • EIT certified and eligible to sit for the PE Exam (should be able to attain PE within a year).
  • Experience with protective relaying: short circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, protection scheme and criteria development, relay settings, integration with SCADA systems, NERC compliance, and arc flash analysis.
  • Proficiency in applicable software: AcSELerator Quickset (SEL-5030), GE Enervista, ASPEN Oneliner, SKM-PTW, ETAP, and RSCAD/RTDS.

Work Environment

The position is remote, but the candidate needs to reside in Colorado and be able to come into the office when needed (once or twice a month). The team works in the office from Tuesday to Thursday, with 30 people on the protection team nationwide.

Compensation:$160000
