Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Firmware Engineer to join our team. You will be working on the design and development of embedded solutions, collaborating within an Agile firmware development team using scrum processes. Your work will be critical in driving firmware quality through early defect discovery and removal. You will analyze acceptance criteria and provide estimates of effort, contributing to new product development in a rapidly growing team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded solutions
- Collaborate within an Agile firmware development team using scrum processes
- Drive firmware quality through early defect discovery and removal
- Analyze acceptance criteria and provide estimates of effort
- Produce technical design documentation for assigned features and user stories
- Engage in daily scrums and weekly development discussions to address problem areas and system issues
- Contribute to new, ground-up architecture for instrumentation and embedded systems
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience in firmware and embedded software development
- Proven proficiency in translating business requirements into data models
- C++ development experience
- Embedded Linux experience
- Ability to read schematics
- Comfortable working with hardware, debugging, and familiar with tools including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with TCP/IP and networking fundamentals
- Experience with Embedded Linux build systems such as Yocto
- Experience with Agile Development using Jira and the Atlassian Suite
- Experience with basic scripting languages: Shell, Bash, Python
- Ability to speak to industrial instrumentation architecture
- Understanding of protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, MODBUS, USB, Ethernet
Work Environment
This position requires a minimum of four days on-site per week with Friday as a flex day. You will be working on a large campus with hundreds of people on site, and manufacturing done in-house. Your average day will include a daily scrum at 9am, engaging with the team, troubleshooting, development, coding, building, deploying, and debugging. The work environment is collaborative, with nearly all engineering disciplines represented, and facilities include a 10m EMC chamber, HALT chamber, PCA/SMT line, injection molding, and fabrication.
