Job Description
Step into a role where you’ll lead the design efforts of water and wastewater treatment facilities and conveyance infrastructure. Your expertise will shape site design project components, including site layout, yard piping, roadways, paving, grading, and stormwater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform cutting-edge civil engineering work in state-of-the-art water and wastewater treatment facilities and conveyance infrastructure.
- Innovate in site design, laying out intricate layouts, yard piping, roadways, paving, grading, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Lead engineering planning and design projects, with a hands-on approach to site visits, fieldwork, alternatives analysis, and detailed report preparation.
- Craft civil engineering plans, specifications, and precise cost estimates for visionary water and wastewater projects.
- Create compelling technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables that drive progress.
- Review contractor submittals to ensure alignment with contract plans and specifications, providing expert evaluations for information requests.
- Engage in thrilling field activities such as pilot testing and permitting, bringing your engineering vision to life.
- Collaborate with project managers on permitting submittals, coordinating with a variety of governmental agencies.
- Embark on field activities and site reconnaissance, uncovering new possibilities and innovations.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 3 to 12 years of directly relevant experience in civil engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
- Application of engineering principles, including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques
- Experience with local utility codes and the utility permitting process
- Ability to review plans and specifications against local codes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Work Environment
Site visits once a week or every two weeks as needed, involving activities such as taking pictures, touring with the plant operator, and shadowing the inspector. The standard schedule is 8-5pm with flexibility for personal needs. The work environment offers a choice of remote, hybrid, or in-office work arrangements. For those preferring their workspace, being in the office three days a week is required. Additionally, in-office presence may be needed for training purposes.
