Job Title: Estimator and Drafter

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Estimator to join our team. The Steel Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of projects, ensuring that all estimates are competitive and align with the company's financial goals. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of the steel industry, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project specifications, drawings, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for steel projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimates.
• Identify and quantify all cost factors, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Prepare detailed and itemized cost breakdowns for each project.
• Review and update estimates as project details change or new information becomes available.
• Maintain a database of historical cost data to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
• Participate in bid preparation and submission processes.
• Monitor project costs and provide regular updates to management.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in steel estimating or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of steel products, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Bluebeam or similar software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience in construction, steel detailing, bidding, structural steel, and blueprint reading.

Work Environment

This position operates in an industrial environment within the steel industry, typically involving a team of 1-3 members.
