Job Description
We are currently seeking a Superintendent to join our team supporting the Everglades Restoration Program. The initial project involves a large pump station for the SFWMD. The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing field operations to ensure timely and profitable project completion. This role includes direct supervision of the field labor force, including laborers and craft workers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors, enforcing company safety policies and programs.
- Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of the field labor force.
- Inspect contractor or subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients, including the Owner and Architect/Engineer representatives.
- Develop and maintain the site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Conduct quality inspections and coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
- Monitor costs, including labor time and materials.
- Demonstrate a commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through personal actions and mentoring others.
- Prepare detailed short-term schedules and ensure all activities occur on or ahead of schedule dates.
- Prepare and submit Superintendent Daily Reports.
- Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years as a superintendent in pump station or heavy civil construction projects.
- Experience in construction management, particularly with lift stations, water treatment, earthwork, and civil construction.
- Proficiency in construction-related software such as Bluebeam.
- Broad understanding of industry standards.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and project contracts.
- Good math and accounting skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to delegate effectively.
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Effective team player.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Junior College or Vocational education desired.
- OSHA, First Aid/CPR certifications.
- Computer knowledge and efficiency with Microsoft Office products, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Procore, eCMS, RMS, Prolog, and/or Autodesk.
- Estimating skills are a plus.
- Experience with SFWMD is a plus.
Work Environment
The Superintendent will work on-site at the trailer near EAA Reservoir on 27. The position is exempt and typically requires working from 7 am to 4 pm (or 4:30 pm). The schedule may change based on project needs and weather conditions, and occasional Saturday work is required. The dress code includes a hard hat, steel-toe boots, work pants, company shirt, safety vest, gloves, and safety glasses. The Superintendent will report to the General Superintendent and the Project Manager(s).
