Top Skills Required:

• High-volume fiber pulling and splicing
• Proficiency with Fluke Testers

Other Skills:

• Cat6 and Cat5 installation
• Cable testing and troubleshooting
• Rack assembly and installation
• Crimping and punchdowns

Job Description:

• Run and splice fiber (must know color codes)
• Use OTDR
• Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and walls (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates, and surface mount boxes).
• Build and install closets (mount backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware).
• Perform testing and troubleshooting on horizontal and riser cables.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Adhere to all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.

Tools You'll Use:

• Screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves.
• Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.
• OTDR, fiber splicer

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in splicing and ribbonized/infused splicing.
• Experience installing IDF/MDF closets from the ground up.
• Knowledge of punch downs and color codes.
• Experience using both ends of a Versiv Fluke tester for fiber and/or copper.

Work Environment:

• Primary site: Data center in Aiken, SC
• Conditions: Indoor and outdoor, new construction, hot environments, lots of walking, hauling materials, working at heights.
