- Cat6 and Cat5 installation
- Cable testing and troubleshooting
- Rack assembly and installation
- Crimping and punchdowns
Job Description:
- Run and splice fiber (must know color codes)
- Use OTDR
- Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and walls (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates, and surface mount boxes).
- Build and install closets (mount backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware).
- Perform testing and troubleshooting on horizontal and riser cables.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Adhere to all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
Tools You'll Use:
- Screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves.
- Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.
- OTDR, fiber splicer
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in splicing and ribbonized/infused splicing.
- Experience installing IDF/MDF closets from the ground up.
- Knowledge of punch downs and color codes.
- Experience using both ends of a Versiv Fluke tester for fiber and/or copper.
Work Environment:
- Primary site: Data center in Aiken, SC
- Conditions: Indoor and outdoor, new construction, hot environments, lots of walking, hauling materials, working at heights.
