Job Description
Provide design leadership and expertise in applicable codes and standards. Preparation and supervision of preparation of contract documents including schematic design, design development, and final construction drawings and specifications. Deliver accurate and thorough code-compliant designs meeting industry standards within budget constraints. Review and carry out complex electrical technical studies and prepare high-caliber reports. Proficiency with construction processes and constructability issues. Resolve site construction issues, attend site meetings, and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects. Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability. Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks on projects.
Responsibilities

- Prepare and supervise the preparation of contract documents, including schematic design, design development, and final construction drawings and specifications.
- Deliver accurate and thorough code-compliant designs meeting industry standards within budget constraints.
- Review and carry out complex electrical technical studies and prepare high-caliber reports.
- Resolve site construction issues, attend site meetings, and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
- Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks on projects.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 4-5 years of documented design experience or responsibility in areas of mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency with SKM or similar industry-acceptable short circuit analysis program.
- Proficiency with AGI32 or other industry-accepted photometric calculation program.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience with electrical engineering, design, and electrical design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with construction processes and constructability issues.
- Experience in performing quality assurance and quality control tasks.
- Ability to resolve site construction issues and perform site inspections.
Work Environment
The office consists of about 23 people, all Engineers, based in Chicago. Employees work from home three days a week and in the office two days a week. The team mainly works on educational, high rises, residential, commercial, city of Chicago, Chicago housing, and police projects.
