Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team in Greenwood. As a Medical Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. You will perform nursing and administrative duties, prepare patients for examination and treatment, and ensure the smooth operation of the medical office.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Take patient vital signs, review medications and allergies, and enter health information into EMR (WebChart).
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Assist in rooming patients and maintaining sterilized supplies and equipment.
  • Support physicians and physician assistants in preparing for medical procedures.
  • Verify patients by date of birth and full name.
  • Perform medical procedures and accompanying paperwork.
  • Promote the office discharge process by scheduling tests and appointments, and managing lab orders and prescriptions.
  • Triage telephone calls for referral to physicians or nurse practitioners.
  • Restock examination rooms on a weekly basis.

Essential Skills

  • Experience taking vital signs and providing patient care.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing procedures.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood collection.
  • Experience with EMR systems, specifically WebChart.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Completion of Medical Assistant schooling.
  • Certifications such as CMA, CCMA, RMA, AAMA, NHA, or equivalent in good standing.
  • Experience in rheumatology, internal medicine, or pediatrics is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.

Work Environment

The work hours for this role are from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with the possibility of starting as early as 7:00 AM depending on patient lab needs. There is no weekend work required. Candidates should be prepared to take on various tasks as needed and must maintain a professional demeanor. This position is located at our Noblesville location and includes a 6-week training program. The work environment is fast-paced, and adherence to policies for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance is required.
