Job Title: Transportation Project Manager


Job Description

Actalent is seeking a licensed Transportation Engineer with at least 8 years of transportation project experience. This Engineer will provide technical design expertise to the project team and ensure the overall quality of client deliverables. Perform technical design for assigned projects with a working knowledge of traffic engineering in civil engineering. Mentor and direct team members in various project design tasks, data collection, document preparation, and more.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical design expertise to the project team and ensure the overall quality of client deliverables.
  • Perform technical design for assigned projects with a working knowledge of traffic engineering in civil engineering.
  • Mentor and direct team members in project design tasks, including engineering calculations, computer design software, and referencing engineering procedures and design manuals.
  • Collect and assemble complex project data.
  • Prepare complex project documents such as specifications and bid documents.
  • Review complex drawings to ensure clarity and thoroughness.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs.
  • Manage external communications and document projects.
  • Conduct complex site observations.
  • Understand and meet internal and external customers' needs and expectations; develop and improve client relationships.
  • Manage preparation of reports, studies, proposals, blogs, and journal articles.
  • Understand basic financial terms and concepts as they apply to projects.
  • Account for individual project task involvement, including scheduling, scope, role, and budget.
  • Track multiple task budgets and schedules.
  • Lead or contribute to business development efforts.
  • Develop and follow up on qualifying leads.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering degree
  • 8+ years of transportation design experience required
  • Professional Engineering certificate required
  • Knowledge in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation required
  • Dual traffic and planning experience
  • Modeling background (VISSIM, etc., not Synchro)
  • Traffic signal timing and operations timings
  • Existing client relationships and/or ability to build new ones
  • Experience with municipalities and DOTs
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and successfully lead co-workers
  • Effective communication with other team leads and co-workers
  • Experience in growing and retaining team members
  • Experience managing projects with multiple team members
  • Understanding of scoping and costing projects as well as managing budgets
  • Experience working on projects involving design, traffic signals, permanent signing, pavement marking, traffic control, ITS, and intersection geometrics

Work Environment

Work Monday through Friday with flexible working hours. This position may require additional work outside of regular hours as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position. The team consists of approximately 40 professionals ranging from surveying, CAD design, and engineering.
