The ideal candidate will use first principle approaches and possess a strong general knowledge of both metallics and composite structures. This role involves executing trade studies to identify the most weight-efficient design solutions that meet high-level requirements. The candidate must be able to work effectively in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment alongside design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural load paths for early conceptual designs to meet high-level requirements.
  • Utilize first principle approaches with a strong knowledge of metallics and composite structures.
  • Execute trade studies to evaluate various design solutions and downselect the most weight-efficient concepts.
  • Work collaboratively in an IPT environment with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Catia V5 and up.
  • Experience with stress analysis and structural analysis.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and FEMAP.
  • Experience with static or damage tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with Boeing tools and OEM tools.
  • Expertise in primary structures and metallics.
  • Understanding of GFEM (Global Finite Element Models) and DFEM (Detail Finite Element Models).
  • Experience in mechanical engineering and aerospace composites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with conceptual design first principles analysis approaches for primary composite structures.
  • Understanding of composite structures failure modes and limitations.
  • Experience in creating, managing, and running GFEMs utilized by the entire stress team.
  • Experience in creating and executing DFEMs.
  • Ability to create simple working FEMs for conceptual design validation.

Work Environment
