Job Title: Entry Level Distribution Engineer


Job Description

Produce engineering designs for energy Distribution projects. Project work will include preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, development of a BOM, estimating costs, etc. Engineers will support major distribution projects for the utility industry and will software CAD for drafting/design work and ArcFM. All projects will be related to electric power distribution and leadership - specifically make-ready and smart antenna.


We are in search of Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join a diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in performing field inspections, engineering design work and calculations. As a part of this work, you’ll be coordinating with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
  • Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering will only be considered.
  • 0-1 year of experience or basic knowledge in the concepts in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, ability to use design software packages, and general construction knowledge and aptitude.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation/initiative, and the desire to learn.
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies
  • Analytical competence to interact with variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers


Work Environment

Office environment, 40 hours per week, with some overtime depending on deliverables (must be approved by leadership). Dress code is business casual. The role may require 5-10% travel.
