Job Title: Clinical Social Worker
Job Description
Provides social work services to students, including psychosocial assessment and treatment/interventions, such as individual and group therapy, case management services, and family support if needed. Participates in interdisciplinary school committees and provides appropriate documentation according to departmental guidelines, including IEP documentation, progress notes, psychosocial assessments, and reports for outside agencies. Functions effectively within a multidisciplinary team, advocating for client needs and participating actively in team plans using clear, concise, and assertive communication. Demonstrates a competent approach to crisis management, including clinical and administrative follow-up, and maintains working relationships with staff, students, and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide social work services including individual and group therapy, case management, and family support.
- Participate in interdisciplinary school committees.
- Document according to departmental guidelines, including IEP documentation, progress notes, and psychosocial assessments.
- Support the team in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavioral Intervention Plans, and reports for outside agencies.
- Advocate for client needs and participate actively in team plans.
- Demonstrate competent crisis management and document crisis interventions as required.
- Maintain working relationships with staff, students, families, and interdisciplinary and interagency representatives.
- Consider cultural factors in treatment planning for students and their families.
Essential Skills
- Competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served.
- Clinical care focus on neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, including some disabilities.
- Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) by the State of Maryland.
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work.
- Two years of clinical experience with children and adolescents with developmental, learning, and/or emotional disabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience serving as a social work role and training model to graduate social work/counseling trainees.
- Ability to develop Mental Health IEP goals and implement them effectively.
Work Environment
Working with school-aged children in California, MD. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and consideration of cultural factors in treatment planning.
