Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and design of battery cell manufacturing equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment on the design and development of high-speed, ultra-high scale automated manufacturing equipment. You will work with cross-functional teams to test, validate, and roll-out equipment to production. The ideal candidate takes pride in their hands-on work, analytical ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail. They appreciate an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed, and rewarded, and where individuals carry tremendous responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Take equipment from a rough concept to full production.
  • Manage equipment suppliers or internal design teams through development and deployment milestones (PO release, FAT, SAT, SOP, Ramp).
  • Develop station requirements (work content, automated versus manual, buffering strategy, redundancy requirements, etc.).
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and tooling for battery cell production.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analysis to ensure optimal performance and durability of mechanical designs.
  • Develop CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation following industry standards.
  • Optimize mechanical systems for improved efficiency, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in integrating automation solutions to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures for mechanical defects and process inefficiencies.
  • Support reliability testing and validation of mechanical components and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.

Essential Skills

  • Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in battery cell manufacturing, automotive, or high-volume production environments.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, and mechanical process optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot various systems.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform mechanical simulations and analysis (FEA, CFD).
  • Strong knowledge of materials science, thermal management, and mechanical system design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical design, project management, and equipment engineering.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, machine design, and optimization.

Work Environment

You will be working with cutting-edge technology in Electric Vehicle Battery Manufacturing. The work environment encourages innovation and excellence, offering opportunities for professional growth and development. The role may require domestic and international travel.

Compensation:$138000
