The Environmental Health and Safety Technician is part of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team and provides day to day EHS presence across the contract and ensures that all federal, state, local and DOD regulations are being adhered to. Conduct investigations into all mishaps (accidents/incidents) ensure they are reported in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS). It is the EHS Technician's duty to ensure that all personnel, facilities, equipment and the environment are protected, secured, and maintained, to provide a reliable work force, free of any hazards and ready for any task assigned.

Responsibilities
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, DOT and Army environmental, radiological, health and safety requirements.
- Conduct surveys, audits and assessments to assigned locations to include the use of forklift, cranes and various lifting and conveying equipment.
- Provide training during audits and inspections, with the assigned facility, environmental, and fire marshal monitors.
- Conduct classroom and hands on training in all OSHA topics.
- Conduct Mishap (accident/incident) investigations.
- Conduct interviews collect photos and secure evidence from the scene of mishaps (accidents/incidents)
- Advise appropriate management or supervisory staff of conditions requiring corrective action.
- Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and assist with implementation of the ergonomic plans.
- Assists in the establishment of policies and directions to ensure compliance.
- During natural disasters and real-world emergencies, conduct surveys of affected areas and report damages.
- Conduct EHS briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and provide for a safe work environment.
- Must complete Level I and II Operations Security training.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational / operational objectives.
- Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
- Inspect, maintain and operate government owned and leased vehicles.
- Operate computers, printers and scanners.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and SharePoint software.
- Operate various Industrial Hygiene tools, including noise and light meters.
- Utilize ergonomic assessment tools.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, such as Face Mask that covers the nose and mouth is required, steel or composite toe safety shoes/boots, hand, head, and eye wear when required.
- May be exposed to outside work where they may experience extreme cold or hot weather conditions.
- Work will be in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
- May be exposed traveling around the contract in government owned vehicles.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
- Occasional over time or flex time may be required in support of government operations.
- Everyday physical requirements include general lifting to 30 lbs., climbing ladders and on vehicles, walking long distances, sitting or standing, or other physical efforts as required to perform audits and inspections. In addition, visual acuity, hearing and speaking requirements are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have an associate degree with one (1) year of EHS experience or three (3) or more years of EHS on the job experience as their primary duties.
- Prior Physical Security or Anti-Terrorism experience
- Must possess a current state issued driver's license without restrictions.
- Must be fully versed in OSHA and EPA regulations.
- The ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Must have excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and perform with a high degree of accuracy and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or passport.
- Safety/EHS Certifications, OSHA 30 Certification, OSHA Authorized Trainer, HAZWOPER Trainer, NSC Advanced Safety, or MESH Certifications.
- Certificate, Advanced Ergonomic Certifications, OPSEC Level I and II training, prior Physical Security of Anti-Terrorism duties.
- Be able to complete government and contract required training.
- Be able to teach all OSHA and EPA topics for the employees Initial and Annual reoccurring training.
- Be able to work independently on a daily basis.
- Must be able to keep track of audits, inspections and certifications on personnel, facilities and equipment.
- Must be able to work on teams as directed to complete complex goals.
- Must be able to work with employees, Leads, Supervisors and Managers on a daily basis.
