Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician


Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our fast-paced teaching/community hospital environment. The primary responsibilities include cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high-level disinfection of reusable medical instrumentation. This role supports up to 60 surgical cases and 500-600 trays per day, while maintaining adequate supply levels in the sterile storage area and pulling case carts for the daily surgical schedule. The technician will work in assembly, decontamination, steam sterilization, and SPM each day.


Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, assemble, and perform high-level disinfection of reusable medical instrumentation.
  • Support up to 60 surgical cases and 500-600 trays per day.
  • Maintain adequate supply levels in sterile storage area and rotate stock as appropriate.
  • Pull case carts for the daily surgical schedule.
  • Work in assembly, decontamination, steam sterilization, and SPM each day.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience as a sterile processing technician in a teaching or community hospital.
  • Experience working within AAMI ST79 standards.
  • Proficiency in handling orthopedics, robotics, neuro, endoscope, and spine equipment.
  • Experience with Steris Sinks, Ultrasonics, Scope Buddy, Electronic Leak Testers, Steris Cart Washers, and V-PRO equipment.
  • Experience with SPM software.
  • CSPDT certification (from CBSPD) or CRCST certification (from IAHCSMM or HSPA).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CFER certification (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with electronic leak testers and Steris cart washers.
  • Proficiency in using low temperature sterilization systems.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced teaching/community hospital environment. The position requires working onsite Monday through Friday from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule. The first two weeks of orientation will be on the 1st shift from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Candidates must be open to working 1-2 weekends per month. Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, and Christmas, with specific hours designated for each holiday.
