Job Title: Customer Quality Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Customer Quality Engineer to join our team. This role involves acting as the primary liaison for customer communications, overseeing root cause analysis and corrective actions, and participating in both internal and customer meetings to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and product quality.


Responsibilities

  • Lead internal RFQ meetings, ensuring standard procedures are followed while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for customer communications, reviewing and formally recording interactions to align with the company's strategic direction.
  • Assign customer needs to appropriate internal departments, driving and challenging technical solutions to enhance the customer experience.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of root cause analysis and corrective actions, advocating for the customer's best interests.
  • Escalate internally when deadlines are not met or poor solutions are being pushed to customers.
  • Identify potential risks for customers, drive internal actions to mitigate them, and present effective solutions.
  • Participate in various meetings at customer plants and remotely, providing outstanding technical customer support.
  • Compile and categorize customer interactions, presenting them to the board of directors along with corresponding actions.
  • Analyze customer forecasts to understand patterns, trends, and market demand to advance business competitiveness.
  • Oversee production output, efficiency, and outgoing shipments to ensure products meet customer expectations.
  • Manage the PPAP process and other projects related to new product launches or initiatives to enhance the customer experience.
  • Oversee key quality metrics, including Customer Scorecards, Internal Scrap, Cost of Poor Quality, and Quality Concerns.
  • Engage proactively with customers to understand long-term goals and offer tailored solutions for continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a quality-focused customer-facing role
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with PPAP, FMEA, PDCA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to travel to customer sites 20-50% (reimbursed)
  • Master's Degree (Nice to Have)
  • Metal stamping experience (Nice to Have)
  • Sales Engineering experience (Nice to Have)

Work Environment

This position operates in a remote setting environment, with expectations to visit facilities where shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors may be present. Standard working hours are 7:30 am-4:00 pm, with salaried employees typically working 45 hours a week. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, plus a corporate cell phone.
