Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will assist the Engineering Department in supporting new medical device product transfer to manufacturing while also providing support to current production and service needs. The Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems and components to support our cross-functional team on new-product transition from the design owner/legal Device Manufacturer to Company. This includes obtaining the overall understanding, intended use, and theory of operation of the device.


Responsibilities

  • Identify specialized technologies inherent to products to be manufactured and gain technical understanding and confidence to be a technical reference on those products.
  • Identify and develop test fixtures for subassembly verification prior to final system integration. Develop and validate final system test methodology and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to staff in the field during service events.
  • Source and validate alternate components to alleviate end of life components.
  • Investigate actual product performance and reliability issues and develop appropriate mitigations.
  • Review the product for potential improvements and design and implement those improvements.
  • Plan and perform necessary verification and validation for changes prior to implementation.
  • Participate in the review of non-conforming product, determine how to disposition the issue, and discuss with a cross-functional team what mitigations could be implemented for the prevention of future occurrences.

Essential Skills

  • Understanding of complex electrical systems, physics, and how they interact.
  • Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in an engineering role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience or exposure to electrical safety testing of devices.
  • Comfortable with circuit design and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to design automated test fixtures.
  • Ability to read standards that apply to specific products and apply the requirements to the product design.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum 3 years of work experience developing products from initial concepts to production.
  • Knowledge of electrical components and manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to take a PCBA schematic and layout design from definition to manufacturing release.
  • Proven experience in electrical system design, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software tools and programming including working with or guiding firmware developers.
  • Experience and capability in using lab test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers to troubleshoot systems down to the component level.
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems (up to 150kV).
  • Firm understanding of the electrical design process.
  • Basic understanding of the medical device design process.
  • Strong understanding of electrical standards, safety practices, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on approach whether it be building a prototype or performing testing.

Work Environment

On-Site Manufacturing environment, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
