Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple center-based managed projects through all phases of development, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control, and closure while following the Business Execution Process (BEP) as defined in the Services Management Framework (SMF). The Project Manager will work closely with the Practice or Group Manager to procure resources for projects and with internal support functions to deliver a great customer experience. This role involves providing leadership and direction to our project teams, ensuring that all projects meet their Cost, Quality, and Timing requirements. Additionally, maintaining and growing relationships with key customer stakeholders and center-based/onsite managed resources to enhance project performance in support of customer business goals is essential.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple center-based managed projects through all development phases.
  • Work closely with the Practice or Group Manager to procure resources for projects.
  • Collaborate with internal support functions to deliver a great customer experience.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams.
  • Ensure projects meet Cost, Quality, and Timing requirements.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Enhance project performance in support of customer business goals.

Essential Skills

  • Engineering Project Management / Project Outsourcing Experience
  • Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering design experience
  • Defense Industry (military / defense) experience
  • Customer-facing and client relationship management skills
  • Scheduling and coordinating capabilities
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline preferred; advanced degree is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or electrical engineering related roles
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Defense Industry engineering experience required; marine engineering and shipbuilding industry experience
  • Prior mentorship and/or lead experience in identifying and facilitating team training needs and assigning appropriate levels of work to individuals with commensurate experience/skills
  • Process development experience to identify and implement processes where gaps exist
  • Proven experience in managing mid-size programs or service engagement preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to customer groups and manage client expectations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with managing large dispersed teams with diverse skillsets
  • Team player with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and virtual environment
  • Ability to travel when needed, up to 10%
  • PMP Certification a plus; proven knowledge of project management methods required
  • Highly proficient in PC applications (MS Office suite of tools)
  • Must be U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Secret Clearance and meet ITAR compliance
