The Multi-domain Solutions Division (MDS) within the Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a skilled Computer Operator to join a new cyber security program and play a key role in supporting government-critical systems. You will be part of a program that oversees development, integration, delivery, and operations and maintenance of IT managed security services, which encompasses support to monitor the cybersecurity threat and security posture situational awareness for the enterprise. This opportunity is in anticipation of a future contract award!

Pay Range:
Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00

What you'll be doing:
- Monitor, maintain, and secure critical IT systems and infrastructure within a classified environment.
- Ensure the smooth operation of systems, executing batch processes, responding to security alerts, and maintaining compliance with stringent government regulations.
- Apply strong background in IT operations, system monitoring, and cybersecurity principles, along with the ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment.
- Monitor system consoles, applications, and batch jobs to identify errors or performance issues.
- Respond promptly to system alerts, error messages, and job failures.
- Restart failed processes and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support.
- Schedule, monitor, and maintain batch jobs and automated tasks.
- Ensure that batch processes run as scheduled and troubleshoot issues when necessary.
- Review job logs to ensure completion and accuracy.
- Initiate and monitor system backups to safeguard critical data.
- Verify backup integrity and perform restoration tests.
- Manage media rotation and secure storage of backup copies.
- Assist in applying system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Perform system reboots and routine maintenance as required.
- Ensure that system maintenance tasks align with operational schedules.
- Provide first-level support to end-users for system-related issues.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate IT teams.
- Assist users with login, application access, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate records of system activity, including incidents, errors, and corrective actions.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring tasks.
- Create incident reports and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance required. Must be U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree and 8 to 12 years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 6 to 10 years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux, or UNIX operating systems.
- Ability to run system commands, manage processes, and troubleshoot errors.
- Understanding of batch job scheduling and monitoring.
- Experience with job control languages (JCL), if applicable.
- Familiarity with backup procedures and data recovery methods.
- Ability to verify backup integrity and manage storage media.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and replace hardware components as needed.
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), connectivity, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with remote access tools and VPNs.
- Ability to monitor system activity and identify errors or inconsistencies.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot system and application issues.
- Familiarity with data center operations and environment monitoring.
- Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes.
- Experience with enterprise-level applications and databases.
