Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support containerization development across large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology creates a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic designs aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. Essentially, this system acts as the central nervous system of a submarine, allowing all other subsystems to connect seamlessly. The engineer will use their expertise to write secure code for communications coming in and out of Kubernetes to a private cloud for edge communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform software integration.
• Ensure a Linux system works effectively with a private cloud, including testing, debugging code, and working with containers and orchestrators.
• Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes in a Linux OS environment, optimizing system performance, security, and scalability.
• Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling, implementing interprocess communication within containers, and optimizing GPU performance.

Essential Skills

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in C++ and Java.
• Experience in developing real-time systems.
• Development, integration, and troubleshooting experience with the Linux/Unix Operating System.
• Experience with designing and building containers with Kubernetes for efficient deployment and management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with GPU optimization within containers.
• Proficiency with RKE2.
• Proficiency with KubeVIP.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Knowledge of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling.
• Knowledge of designing containers to be highly available.

Work Environment

The worksite is a 2000+ person facility located in Manassas, VA. The schedule is flexible with options such as 4/10s, 9/80, or a standard 5 days/40-hour week. This environment offers great tenure and multiple programs where employees can enhance their technology knowledge and advance their careers.
