Exciting Career Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer

Are you ready to bring your engineering expertise to a dynamic team? We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who can innovate and optimize cost-effective components, equipment, and systems using top-tier engineering standards and computer-aided design, with a keen focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles. Your role will encompass preparing precise engineering drawings, processing change orders efficiently, and providing invaluable technical support across departments and to our esteemed customers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Design: Conceptualize and redesign cost-efficient components, equipment, and systems adhering to engineering standards and leveraging computer-aided design. Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Engineering Drawings: Prepare detailed engineering drawings for components, assemblies, and plant layouts. Review and verify drawings created by less experienced team members.
  • Process Optimization: Efficiently handle engineering change orders/requests and ensure their timely completion.
  • MRP/ERP Systems: Prepare bills of materials and process routings in MRP/ERP systems.
  • Supplier Analysis: Evaluate and approve supplier or subcontractor designs, providing specific feedback on product/service compliance with specifications.
  • Component Evaluation: Analyze commercially available components to determine their suitability for equipment integration.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and resolve component non-conformances.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support for company products throughout their life cycles.
  • Mentorship: Guide and train less experienced engineering team members.
  • Standards & Procedures: Prepare and update engineering standards and procedures.
  • Project Management: Oversee job projects/orders from receipt to shipment, including Gantt chart preparation.
  • Continual Learning: Stay current on codes and industry standards by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining networks, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Compliance: Ensure all major equipment meets codes and specifications, maintaining consistency and integrity.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Travel: Occasionally travel (<10%) to supplier facilities and customer sites.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience: 10-15 years in mechanical engineering.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong focus on assembly and machine design.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
  • DFM Expertise: Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Technical Acumen: Understanding of how shafts and bearings work together.
  • Drawing Skills: Ability to prepare and check engineering drawings and process change orders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Preferred Experience: Experience in food processing is a plus.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management is advantageous.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor and train less experienced team members.
  • Upgrading Skills: Experience in rebuilding and upgrading existing machines.
