Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer with experience in datacenter markets to help carry out project assignments. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical engineering and experience in hospitals, large/complex facilities, and mission-critical facilities such as data centers, telecommunications, or disaster recovery sites.
Responsibilities
- Participate in daily commissioning activity meetings.
- Perform equipment pre-start-up procedures and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Prepare comprehensive commissioning documentation and test procedures.
- Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
- Write detailed reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, lists of deficiencies, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
- Develop and administer functional tests for various systems, including electrical distribution systems, switchboards, UPS, PDUs, STS, and standby generators.
- Verify test report results and assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed.
- Field experience in operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment.
- Conduct integrated system testing and load bank testing, and compile all testing procedure results.
Essential Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in the Electrical Mission Critical Field.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field.
- Experience working in complex facilities or mission-critical projects.
- Good communication skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners' agents.
- Experience with IEEE procedures and protocols.
- Basic knowledge of system design.
- Possession of a commissioning certification or PE.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certification with a major tech company is highly desired.
- OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.
- Experience with control systems, engineering, mechanical equipment, and electrical design.
Work Environment
The role requires 60-65% travel throughout the year, with periods of 2-3 weeks on-site at a time. The work environment includes a variety of project types within a multi-discipline design-build firm that offers career growth, learning opportunities, and long-term employment. The average tenure of leadership staff is 17 years, and there is a strong backlog of projects extending for 3 years, ensuring a steady flow of work.
